Huntington, W.Va. — The Southwest Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)/Asset Building Coalition is preparing tax returns for hardworking individuals and families at free tax preparation sites throughout Cabell, Wayne and Lincoln counties, W.Va., and Lawrence County, Ohio.
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is for hard working families with annual incomes less than $41,646. The EITC is a special federal tax credit that may provide up to $4,824 for qualified filers. Tax returns can be filed electronically and deposited into a bank account within 7 to 10 days at no charge.
EITC volunteers have helped hundreds of filers improve their quality of life by becoming more financially stable.
Filers should take the following with them to free tax prep sites: a social security card of the filer, spouse and children; a picture ID; federal IRS tax forms for 2008; wage and earnings statement (W-2 forms) from each 2008 employer; other tax forms or receipts of income interest, and dividends; child and dependant care information; and a copy of last year’s tax returns if available.
Please see attached for free tax preparation locations, dates and times.
