WANDA LONG

Wanda Belle Jones Long, 73, of Ironton, went to be with the Lord, Monday, March 2, 2009, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky., after a brief illness.
Mrs. Long was born Aug. 25, 1935, in Pittsburg, Kansas, the daughter of the late Zoney Clarence Jones and Rosa Mae Garrison Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Carl Edward Long; one son, Darrell David Long; a grandson, Samuel Edward Long; one brother, Ted “Bud” Jones; one sister: Mildred Coover; and a son-in-law, Jim Bimm.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Laura Long of Ironton, Mark and Elizabeth Long of Ashland, Ky., and Roger Long of South Point and a special daughter-in-law, Mary Long of Flatwoods; four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Mike Brown, Vicky and Greg Hilliard, all of Xenia, Cheri Bimm of Canton, and Margie and Terry Collins of Ironton; special daughter-in-law, Kathy Long of Ironton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous special friends at Sherman Thompson Towers.
She was a homemaker and member of LaGrange Freewill Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and lived for her children and grandchildren. She was an active participant in many of the functions at Sherman Thompson Towers and will be sorely missed by her loving family and host of friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow in Hecla Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
