FAYETTE TOWNSHIP — The cause of the fire that destroyed a single-family home on Township Road 352 is still under investigation.
Around 6:40 a.m. Friday Lawrence County’s 911 center received the call that sent Fayette 1 and 2, Chesapeake and South Point Volunteer Fire departments to the scene. They were also assisted by a few members from Perry Township.
“The fire marshal is following some leads,” Fayette Chief Ryan Vaughn said Saturday.
One lead involves a brush fire that had started the day before as a possible cause of the house blaze that left two adults and two children homeless.
When the departments arrived, they discovered another structure in danger.
“The fire had spread to a neighboring house and the departments focused on that to keep it from taking the house.”
That house sustained exterior damage and light damage to the attic area.
There were no injuries from the blaze.
