SCOTTOWN — Mae Belle (Massie) Pope, of Scottown , formerly of Lawrence County, died Monday, March 9, 2009, following a brief battle with cancer.
She was born March 6, 1919 in Lecta a daughter of the late Marcus and Nola Massie. She was the widow of Woodrow Pope.
In addition to her parents and husband, Woodrow, Mae Belle was preceded in death by one sister, Bernice McMahan.
Mae Belle is survived by her sons, Donovan (Leota) Pope and Phillip (Mary) Pope, both of Gallipolis; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life was Saturday. A private graveside service will be conducted at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens for the family.
