COAL GROVE — Gracie Mae Markins, 73, of Coal Grove, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Decatur native was born Sept. 28, 1935, the daughter of the late James and Sadie Ervin Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Markins, who died Nov. 30, 2005.
She attended Decatur schools and was a former employee for Lawrence County General Hospital in the Dietary Services Department. She was of the Christian faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Malone; and five brothers, Enoch Russell, Raymond Russell, John Russell, James Russell, and Charles Russell.
She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Markins of Coal Grove; a grandchild; a great grandchild; a sister, Ann Markins of Coal Grove; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Hope Russell of Gahanna and George and Ruth Russell of Flatwoods, Ky.
