In loving memory of Anthony Scott Byington, 49, who fought a valiant, 20-year battle with cancer and died Thursday, March 19, 2009.
Born in Ironton to June and Harold Byington, Tony was the youngest of three brothers. He earned a B.S. in industrial design from The Ohio State University and was manager of art and design at Zaner-Bloser Educational Publishers for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Byington; mother, June Byington; brothers, Greg Byington, his wife, Teresa and their children Lacey (Mike) Lynch and Matthew Byington, Steve Byington; his wife, Lori and their son, Brett. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Cosmo and Josephine Bertino; and three brothers-in-law, Cosmo Bertino (Paula), Michael Bertino (Nancy), Mark Bertino (Kim) and their families.
Tony was gracious, generous and unfailingly kind. His courage and optimism provided hope and inspiration to everyone. His many “Anthony’s Angels” include family, friends, co-workers, church members and medical professionals. Tony loved art, music, sports, traveling, cooking, volunteering, gardening and his dog, India. Friends and family will always treasure Tony’s beautiful, original Christmas cards as an expression of his deep abiding faith and artistic talent.
A funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 1559 Roxbury Rd 43212, followed by burial at Green Lawn Cemetery & Arboretum.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Rd, Columbus, OH 43221, immediately followed by a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. at Northwest Christian Church, 1340 Fishinger Rd.
