“We left some scoring opportunities out there, but we still hit the ball and took advantage of other chances,” said Fairland coach Roger Snyder.

“Our pitchers did a pretty nice job and we made some nice plays on defense. I just hope we can keep that up.”

The pitchers who were doing the job for the Dragons were Nathan Burcham and Robbie Easterling.

Burcham went four innings to get the win as he struck out six, walked three and allowed just two hits. Easterling finished for the save as he racked up five strikeouts and a walk.

Fairland got the scoring underway in the bottom of the first inning with two outs. Easterling and Tyler Thackston singled and Adam Berry and Tyler Godby had RBI singles.

The Dragons got four more runs in the second inning.

Cole Hatfield singled, stole second and scored on a hit by Zach Jordan. Zach Matasich had a base hit and Easterling cranked a three-run homer.

Gallipolis scored in the third when Smith walked, moved up on a sacrifice and came home when Austin Roush singled.

The Blue Devils got within 6-2 fourth as Beau Whaley walked, moved up on a passed ball, and came home when Dressel singled.

The Dragons got a run back in the sixth when Easterling doubled and Berry singled.

Easterling went 3-3 to pace a 12-hit attack. Thackston and Hatfield were 2-3 and Berry 2-4.
