Lady Panthers get another key win
WEST PORTSMOUTH — The Chesapeake Lady Panthers were at it again.
Coming off a big win over a good Huntington St. Joseph team on Monday, the Lady Panthers got another big win behind pitcher Allison Chapman by beating Portsmouth West 7-0 on Tuesday.
“Chapman pitched well again and we hit the ball well two nights in a row against good pitchers. Hopefully it will continue,” said Chesapeake coach Aaron Rice.
Chapman gave up just four hits and struck out 14 while walking only one as Chesapeake improved to 2-0.
The Lady Panthers got a run in the first inning when Nikki Lindsey had a one-out triple, Sarah Mayo got hit by a pitch and Sidney Boyle grounded out.
The lead went to 3-0 in the second inning.
Casey Kirk started the inning with a hit, Chapman walked and Lindsey and Mayo had RBI singles.
Chesapeake got three more runs in the fourth inning.
