PEDRO — There was no official announcement, but Rock Hill celebrated David Turley Night on Tuesday.
Turley pitched a two-hitter as the Redmen blanked the Oak Hill Oaks 11-0 in five innings.
Turley needed just 64 pitches as he struck out seven and walked only one.
“He was on tonight,” said Rock Hill coach Barry Litteral.
Rock Hill had nine hits in the win highlighted by Mitchell Davenport’s grand slam home run.
“But we didn’t just get good pitching, we hit the ball well and we didn’t have an error. Those are all good signs,” said Litteral.
Rock Hill got the only run it needed in the first inning.
Josh Malone singled, stole second, moved up on a fly ball and score when Davenport hit a sacrifice fly.
Blagg hit by a pitch, stole second, went to third on a ground out, Herbie Butterbaugh walked and Turley had a two-run double.
Malone and Shane Russell walked to load the bases and Davenport cranked a grand slam.
In the third inning Blagg doubled and Justice singled for a run. Turley had a base hit and Malone delivered a two-run double.
Blagg smacked a solo home run in the fourth inning to cap the scoring.
Malone and Blagg each went 2-2 while Justice and Turley were 2-3.
