PROCTORVILLE — Thackston could easily change his name the smackton.

Tyler Thackston smacked a pair of two-run doubles to lead the Fairland Dragons to an 8-2 win over the Symmes Valley Vikings on Wednesday.

Thackston was 2-2 with the two doubles and four runs batted in. He also worked the first four innings on the mound to register the win.

“(Thackston) was doing well last year when he got hit by a line drive. Hopefully he’ll get back to where he was last year. He’s doing pretty well so far,” said Fairland coach Roger Snyder.

Zach Jordan also went 2-2 as Fairland (2-0) banged out nine hits.

Thackston, Cole Hatfield and Tyler Godby combined to limit the Vikings to five hits.

Most of the game’s scoring came in the third inning.

The Vikings got their runs in the top of the inning when J.J. Huff singled, Tyler Easthom had an RBI double and Robbie Powell a run-scoring single.

The Dragons came right back with six runs in the bottom of the inning.

Chad Fisher doubled to start the inning and Jordan doubled him home. Jordan stole third and came home on an error.

Hatfield walked, Robbie Easterling singled and Thackston had a two-run double. Adam Berry cranked an RBI double and scored when Godby grounded out.

Fairland put two more runs on the board in the fourth inning.

With one out, Jordan singled, stole second, Easterling walked and Thackston had another two-run double.

“We hit the ball well in two or three spots and we threw the ball well. I pretty well pleased,” said Snyder.

Huff was 2-2 to pace the Vikings (0-1).
