AID — Give the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings a walk and they’ll score at will.

The Lady Vikings had just five hits but capitalized on their scoring opportunities and rode the one-hit pitching of Libby Ash to an 11-0 Southern Ohio Conference win over the New Boston Lady Tigers on Wednesday.

Ash struck out nine of the 16 batters she face and did not issue a walk.

“Our pitching was good and we took advantage of their mistakes to score. We’ll get (runs) however we can get them,” said Lady Vikings coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

Chelsea Wall and Brooke Skinner walked, moved up on a fielder’s choice, and scored on a pair of passed balls.

Symmes Valley put the game away with nine runs in the third inning.

Kendra Saunders walked, Erica Corn hit into a fielder’s choice, Nikki Nance singled and Jessie Morris reached on an error as the run scored.

Wall was safe on an error to score a run. Skinner singled home two runs and Ash was safe on an error to load the bases.

Haily Pelletier reached on an error, Kayla Ross walked and Erica Corn tripled to empty the bases. Nance followed with an RBI single.

Nance was 2-3 to pace the offense.
