VFW 8850 to host Easter Egg hunt

COAL GROVE — The VFW Post 8850 will host an Easter Egg hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday at Paul Porter Park in Coal Grove.

The event is free and open to the public.

The VFW will also be hosting a food drive at the post at 11 a.m. April 18.

Eastern Lions Club set to meet April 7

CHESAPEAKE — The Chesapeake/Proctorville/Rome Lions Club will meet Tuesday, April 7th at 6:30 p.m. for its regular meeting at Giovanni’s in Chesapeake.

Discussion will focus on the upcoming Annual Track & Field meet to be held April 14th at Chesapeake High School. Lion’s Club members and guests are urged to come early for supper.

Rock Hill schools change meeting

ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP — The Rock Hill Local Board of Education has changed its meeting date.

The meeting scheduled for April 11 at 1 p.m. at the Rock Hill High School will now be April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Rock Hill High School to conduct the regular monthly business.

Soldier completes Army basic training

Columbia, S.C. —Army Pvt. Derek H. Fraley has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

He is the son of Rhonda Perry of County Road 26, Ironton.

The private is a 2007 graduate of Rock Hill High School.

Plant exchange set for April 25

IRONTON — The Rock Hill Gardeners garden club along with Ironton in Bloom will sponser a plant exchange on April 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farmers Market on Second Street in Ironton.

RH Child Center hosting registration

ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP — Rock Hill Child Development Center preschool registration for the 2009-2010 school year will be April 13 to April 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

You must have your child’s birth certificate, shot record, child’s Social Security card, insurance card and custody papers, if applicable.

Surgical Associates open house set

RUSSELL, Ky. — Bellefonte Surgical Associates, 1150 St. Christopher Drive on the campus of Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH), will host an open house and meet and greet opportunity with Deborah Chadwick, M.D., Tuesday, April 7 from 4 to 6 p.m.

The open house will feature tours of the facility, refreshments, door prizes and an opportunity to meet Chadwick. Chadwick is a general surgeon and a graduate of Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington. She completed a general surgery residency at Marshall and was a diagnostic radiology resident at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Chadwick completed a general surgery internship at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, W.Va. Chadwick is board certified and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
