Nine colleges to compete in quiz bowl tourney

IRONTON — Thirteen teams from nine colleges and universities will compete in the Kentucky Collegiate Quick Recall League tournament to be held at Ohio University Southern, Saturday. The tournament will begin at 9 a.m., and will feature quiz bowl teams from member colleges and universities, including Georgetown College, Transylvania University, Murray State University, Eastern Kentucky University, University of the Cumberlands, Big Sandy Community and Technical College, Henderson Community College, Jefferson Community and Technical College Southwest, and tournament host Ohio University – Southern.

The Kentucky Collegiate Quick Recall League is a college quiz bowl league that competes throughout the year in various tournaments at member sites, and consists of teams from universities in Kentucky and surrounding states.

The tournament at Ohio University Southern is the fourth one of the season, with the final tournament to be held at Georgetown College on April 18. Currently in the league’s Division I, Georgetown College is in first place in the league with a 12 – 2 record.

Ohio University Southern is in fourth place in the league with a 7 – 7 record, but is only two games behind second place Transylvania and one game behind third place Murray State.

The KCQRL is open to all colleges and universities in the state of Kentucky and surrounding states, including Ohio and West Virginia.

Individuals from other area universities that are interested in forming a quiz bowl team to compete in next year’s league and would like to observe a tournament are also invited to attend.
