SCIOTOVILLE — Now that’s the way to start league play.

Jeremy Hatfield and Cody Myers combined on a no-hitter as the Symmes Valley Vikings blanked the Sciotoville East Tartans 13-0 in a five-inning Southern Ohio Conferecne game Thursday.

“We played a little better than we did against Fairland,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfroe.

“Jeremy threw the ball really well, We hit the ball better and we did a better job defensively.”

Hatfield went four innings and struck out nine. He did not walk a batter. Myers had a strikeout in his one inning of work.

The Vikings took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

The Vikings added a run in the second inning when Gage Patterson was safe on an error, stole second, took third base on a wild pitch and came home on a fielder’s choice.

Symmes Valley put the game away with seven runs in the third inning on an error, three hit batsmen, two walks, a hit by Myers and a two-run double by Powell.
