HANGING ROCK — If a four-wheeler takes a spill over a hillside in a remote area, away from immediate aid, would fellow ATV enthusiasts know what to do to help him or her?

Members of the Hanging Rock ATV Club Trail Patrol will get training Saturday during a mock search and rescue on the Wayne National Forest ATV trails near Hanging Rock.

Jerry Gammon, president of the ATV club, said representatives of Patriot Ambulance and Upper Township Volunteer Fire Department will conduct the training session.

“Several club members have been out riding and have come upon people who rolled their four wheeler and had to help extract them, help get them out,” Gammon said.

It will also be an opportunity for the public to see the ATV trail patrol in action. This weekend is also the official season opening of the ATV trails. WNF rangers will be at the trail head with a welcome tent set up to greet riders part of the day.

The mock search and rescue will be at 4 p.m. on Forest Road 105. This is the first time the ATV Club has undertaken such a drill.
