COAL GROVE — William Stewart, 70, of Coal Grove, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. He was born Feb. 2, 1939, in Ashland, a son of the late Raymond and Hazel Marie King Stewart. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant with 20 years of service. He was a 3rd degree Master Mason of Lawrence Lodge F&AM #198; a Kentucky colonel; a member of the Moose Lodge 701; Cincinnati Scottish Rites; El Hasa Shrine; and the South Ashland Methodist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ray (Sonny) Stewart.
Surviving are a son, William Stewart Jr. of San Francisco; a daughter and son-in-law, Leann and Tim Swartz of Flatwoods, Ky.; three granddaughters; and four sisters, Helen (Denny) Gothard of Ashland; Nancy (David) Grove of Albuquerque, N.M.; Glenna (Bob) Lester of South Point and Patty (Bill) Brown of Ironton.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Young officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 8850. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with Masonic Service by the Lawrence Lodge 198 at 7 p.m.
