Vesuvius race April 18

The Vesuvius Challenge run will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Lake Vesuvius in Wayne National Forest.

Runners can compete in a 4-mile run/walk or a one-mile fun walk. Entry fee is $20. Registrations begin at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 8:45. To pre-register, contact Susan Runyon at (740) 643-1401 or Amy Kline at (740) 532-0890.

Checks should be made payable to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers overall and the top three in each age group.

Age groups are 9-and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70-and-over.

Tiger Clan drawing

The Tiger Clan athletic boosters are conducting their annual $25,000 drawing to be held Saturday, April 25, at the Ironton Elks Lodge.

All ticket donations are $100 and include admission to the drawing including all food and beverages paid.

Tickets may be purchased by groups, but only two persons may attend the drawing per ticket.

A total of $16,000 will be awarded during the night with the grand prize of $10,000.

Dow League meeting

Dow Chemical’s men’s summer softball league will have a meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday at the field for all prospective teams.

Rosters are due along with the $425 entry fee.

The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers basketball camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday through Thursday, June 15-18, at the Ironton Sports Center for girls in grades 3-9 as of the fall of 2009.

Camp fee is $20. Each camper receives one cold beverage daily and a T-shirt at the end of the camp. Checks should be made payable to the Tiger Clan.

Girls may register on the first day of camp, but early registration will help campers receive the proper shirt size. Forms are available at the city schools, Bob Linn Sporting Goods or download a PDF form on the Ironton City Schools web page.

Various awards will be presented at the end of the camp.

Benefit golf scramble

The American Cancer Society “Faithful Fighters” golf scramble will be held starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, at Diamond Links Golf Course.

The four-man scramble is $50 per person. Cash prizes will be given for first and second place finishers. Lunch will be provided.
