PROCTORVILLE — Playing a winless team can be a tougher challenge than expected.

The Fairland Dragons found out how difficult it is to play motivated against a winless team as they beat the River Valley Raiders 10-0 in five innings Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We didn’t play with much emotion, but we were still able to get the win,” said Fairland coach Roger Snyder.

Four Fairland pitchers combined on a no-hitter with Robbie Easterling getting the win.

Fairland jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Zach Jordan singled, stole second base and scored following two passed balls.

Easterling then walked, moved up on a passed ball and came home when Chris Ward singled.

The lead went to 4-0 in the third inning.

Tyler Godby and Zach Matasich and Ethan Long all walked. Godby scored on an error and Matasich scored on a passed ball.

Fairland put the game away with six runs in the fourth inning.

Jordan walked and Cole Hatfield slugged a two-run homer. Easterling was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on a hit by Ward.

Godby doubled home Ward and he scored on a hit by Matasich. Long walked, the runners moved up on a passed ball, and Matasich scored when Adam Berry grounded out.

Ward was 2-3 as Fairland had seven hits.

The Dragons (6-1, 4-0) play at 7 p.m. Friday at Wayne, W.Va.
