A committee composed of members of the Rock Hill and Ironton Garden Clubs, the master gardeners organization, Ironton In Bloom, local florists and an art teacher met April 20 at M&M Realty to choose the first “Yard of the Month” for the 2009 growing season. All judges are given nominated addresses only and view each yard submitted before meeting to choose a winner. Carol Allen, Ironton In Bloom chairperson, is pictured here with the April winner located at 619 S. Seventh St. Owners are the Rev. Richard and Darlene Carter. Rev. Carter is the pastor of Triedstone Baptist Church at Scott’s Depot. He says his wife “supplies the ideas” for planting and he “does the work.”
