JACKSON — Being there is only part of the battle.

Ironton may physically have been at Jackson on Tuesday for a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League game, but they were not there mentally.

In a lackluster performance, the Fighting Tigers dropped a 9-2 decision to the Ironmen.

“We were there, but that was about it. We sure didn’t play like we were there. We just went through the motions,” said Ironton coach Tobey Schreck.

Ironton managed five hits and the only offensive production was solo home runs by Josh Pancake and Geoff White. It was White’s eighth home run of the season.

Jackson jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. White led off with a home run in the fourth inning but Jackson scored two more in the bottom of the inning.

Pancake hit a one-out homer in the fifth only to have Jackson get the run back in its half of the inning. The Ironmen scored another run in the sixth.

The Fighting Tigers (6-10) will host Chillicothe on Friday in an SEOAL game.
