Lady Vikings hit way past T-Wolves

SPRING VALLEY, W.Va.— They weren’t new cleats, but the were hitting shoes.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings wore their hitting shoes as they beat the Spring Valley Lady Timberwolves 9-5 Thursday.

‘Everybody in the lineup had a hit and they all put the ball in play. It was a nice contribution from everyone,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

Erica Corn, Jessie Morris and Nikki Nance all went 2-4 to lead the 11-hit attack.

The T-Wolves led 1-0 after the first inning but the Lady Vikings tied the game in the second on a double by Haily Pelletier and single by Brooke Skinner.

Symmes Valley scored three runs in the third inning.

Corn doubled, Nance hit into a fielder’s choice and Morris had an RBI single. Pelletier walked and Kayla Ross had a two-run double.

Spring Valley got a run back in the bottom of the inning only to have the Vikings get three more in the fourth inning.

Julie Carter and Libby Ash singled, Corn forced out Carter but Nance tripled in the runners. Nance scored on a wild pitch.

Symmes Valley got two runs in the sixth.

Carter walked, moved up on a wild pitch, Corn singled and Morris had an RBI single. Corn scored on a throwing error.

Ash got the win as she gave up eight hits, struck out five and walked four.

Symmes Valley (13-4) plays at Gahanna on Saturday.
