Fast start sends Redwomen past Fairland

PROCTORVILLE — The Rock Hill Redwomen didn’t waste any time.

Rock Hill broke out to a 7-0 lead after two innings and never looked back in a 9-0 win over the Fairland Lady Dragons Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“Our girls have played really well and improved all year. I’m really proud of what they’ve accomplished,” said Rock Hill coach Mary Harper.

The Redwomen scored five runs in the first inning.

Courtney Duncan singled and went to second on an outfield error. Chelsea Harper singled and stole second and Jazel DeAutremont had a two-run triple.

Megan Russell reached on a fielder’s choice and Kassie Large had an inside-the-park home run.

The lead went to 7-0 in the second inning.

BreeAnna Depriest was hit by a pitch, Duncan beat out a bunt to put runners on the corners, an error moved Duncan up a base. Depriest scored on a wild pitch and Duncan came home on a ground out.

The final two runs scored in the fourth inning.

Nicole Stamper walked, moved up on a wild pitch and Harper had an RBI triple. DeAutremont stroked a double to score Harper.

DeAutremont and Harper combined on a two-hitter with Sashe’ Burcham getting both hits.

Fairland was without catcher Mackenzie Rucker who suffered a season-ending torn ACL.

Rock Hill (9-4, 7-2) hosts South Point on Monday.
