HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Darius Marshall, leading rusher last season for the Marshall Thundering Herd, and starting sophomore defensive back DeQuan Bembry were arrested early Saturday morning and have been suspended by head coach Mark Snyder.

“I am very disappointed in DeQuan and Darius’ decision-making. DeQuan and Darius have been suspended from the team. Other action will be determined once the legal system has taken its course,” Snyder said in a statement released by the school on Saturday.

Marshall, a junior, and Bembry were arrested early Saturday and the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department charged each of them with one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, which is a felony.

Bembry, whose real name is DeQuan Markee Starling, and Marshall both remain at Western Regional Jail on $20,000 bonds. They were incarcerated at 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Cabell County Sheriff Tom McComas said the players fully cooperated with the deputies.
