“The girls were pretty excited. It was one of our goals at the beginning of the year. It’s a nice accomplishment and it would be even nicer if we could get through undefeated,” said Green coach Dale Royse.

Green hosts Sciotoville East in a league game on Tuesday and ends SOC play against Portsmouth Clay later in the week.

Ali Thompson made sure the Lady Bobcats would clinch the title as she pitched a five-inning no-hitter. Thompson struck out 12 and did not walk a batter. The only baserunner came on an error.

The Lady Bobcats had six hits but took advantage of 14 walks.

Tiffany Stoneking doubled home a run in the second inning when Green took a 3-0 lead.

Adrianne Blankenship had a two-run double to highlight the seven-run third inning.

Lauren Jones was 2-3 and Ashlee Runyon 1-1 for Green.
