PORTSMOUTH — Paybacks can be very hard.
After suffering a critical upset loss earlier this season to Portsmouth Notre Dame, the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings left no doubt this time as they routed the Lady Titans 11-0 in five innings on Tuesday.
Libby Ash tossed a four-hitter as she struck out five and walked one to get the win.
“Libby was sharp on the mound and we hit the ball. It was a nice little revenge win,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.
Nikki Nance went 3-4 and Erica Corn 2-4 to lead the Lady Vikings’ offense.
The game was scoreless until the third inning when the Lady Vikings scored three.
Ash reached on an error and Corn had an RBI double. Nance singled home Corn, stole second and came home when Chelsea Wall hit into a fielder’s choice.
Symmes Valley opened up a 7-0 lead in the fourth.
Jessie Morris was safe on an error and moved to second on another error. Ash walked and the two pulled off a double steal. Corn singled in both runners.
Nance then singled, Haily Pelletier was safe on an error to load the bases, and Wall had a two-run single.
Four more runs scored in the fifth inning.
Morris reached on an error, Ash walked and they advanced on a wild pitch. Corn was safe on an error for a run, Nance singled in a run and the runners pulled off another double steal.
Pelletier singled in a run and a throwing error scored the final run.
