FRANKLIN FURNACE — It’s an old story, but it’s one that the Green Lady Bobcats never get tired of seeing.

Ali Thompson pitched yet another strong game as she fired a one-hitter as Green blanked the Portsmouth Clay Lady Panthers 2-0 on Wednesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Thompson struck out 10 and did not walk a batter. She got strong backing from her defense that did not make an error.

“Thompson just pitched a heck of a game. She does about every game, but she threw one of her better games today,” said Green coach Dale Royse.

“It was fun game to watch. It had good pitching on both sides and we hit the ball pretty well.”

The only Clay hit was an infield single between third and shortstop.

Green got a run in the first inning when Abbey Barrett reached on an error, stole second base and scored on a double by Thompson.

Adrianne Blankenship doubled and Lauren Jones singled for the Lady Bobcats’ run in the second inning.

Green (14-3, 12-0) hosts South Webster at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Division IV sectional finals.
