PEDRO — The Rock Hill Redmen got well.

Despite an 8-day layoff, Rock Hill did everything well as the Redmen beat the River Valley Raiders 13-2 Wednesday in a five-inning Ohio Valley Conference game.

Ryan Hackworth pitched a three-hitter and the offense had nine hits as Rock Hill improved to 9-5.

“Hackworth threw the ball well and we played good defense behind him. And we hit the ball well,” said Rock Hill coach Barry Litteral.

Rock Hill scored five runs in the first inning with the help of three walks, two hit batsmen and an RBI double by Mitchell Davenport and Devin Darby’s two-run single.

The lead went to 7-0 in the second inning.

Davenport was hit by a pitch, Jeremey Blagg walked, both advanced on a missed infield fly ball and scored on a hit by Herbie Butterbaugh.

Three more runs scored in the third inning to make it 10-2.

Shane Russell tripled, Davenport walked and Blagg had a run-scoring single. Cody Massie singled in a run and Blagg came home on an error.

Rock Hill put the game away with three runs in the fourth inning.

Butterbaugh singled, Darby was safe on an error, and Malone had a two-run double. Davenport capped the scoring with an RBI double.

Davenport was 2-2 and Butterbaugh 2-3 to pace the offense.
