JOSEPH CHATFIELD

Joseph Franklin Chatfield, 88, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Pine Grove, a son of the late Arthur McKinley and Maye Katherine Cook Chatfield.
He was a retired employee of the Dayton Malleable Iron Company, a U.S. Navy veteran and was a member of Storms Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Mary Delawder and Gertrude Arthur; four brothers, William and Ed Chatfield, and infant brothers Arthur James and Ralph David Chatfield.
He is survived by his wife, Georgianna “Ann” Eaches Chatfield, whom he married Jan. 15, 1944; two daughters, and sons-in-law, Judith Ann and Ed Pierson of Ironton and Sharon Kay and Fred Classing of South Point; one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Franklin and Margot Chatfield of Loveland. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Denise Ann Gambill, Charles David Classing, James Kevin Pierson, Stephen Allen Classing and Michael Joseph Classing; two great grandchildren, Shelby Ann Gambill and Camryn Diane Pierson; a sister, Eleanor (Bill) Peterson of Hecla and a sister-in-law, Catherine Chatfield of Ironton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with pastors Jim Orrick and Kenny Hurst officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
