Accused robber to face grand jury

A man accused in connection with three May 1 robberies in Hamilton Township will have his case heard by a Lawrence County Grand Jury.

Michael Chatfield, 26, of 150 Daniel Drive, Hanging Rock, waived his right to a preliminary hearing during an appearance Thursday in Ironton Municipal Court.

Chatfield is charged with two counts of felony theft, one count of misdemeanor theft, and one count each of tampering with evidence, menacing and trespassing.

He is accused of taking $700 in cash and several pieces of jewelry from one residence, items from Hopper’s Carryout and a laptop from another residence on the same day. He is also accused a stalking yet another Hamilton residence.

Chatfield remains in the Lawrence County Jail under a $15,000 bond.
