CHILLICOTHE — In conjunction with an ongoing resurfacing project on U.S. Route 52 in Lawrence County, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will close the exit ramp to the southbound Ashland, Ky. (Ben Williamson Bridge) one night next week.
On Wednesday, June 17, the exit ramp to the bridge will be closed while crews from Shelly and Sands Incorporated slip form a parapet wall.
Weather permitting, the closure will be in effect from 9 p.m. Wednesday until approximately 5 a.m. Thursday, June 18.
While the ramp is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 52 East to the County Road 18/Solida Road exit at South Point, and then back to the bridge via U.S. 52 West.
The $10.9 million project includes replacing bridge decks and resurfacing U.S. 52 between the 5.00-mile marker just east of state Route 650 at Hanging Rock and the 11.84-mile marker at the eastern corporation limit of Coal Grove.
Throughout construction, an 11.5-foot width restriction and a 45-mile-per-hour speed limit will be in effect within the project zone.
