Skate park gives youth something of their own

As a member of the Ironton Recreation Department Advisory Committee, I would like to convey my support for the construction of a skate park at the Etna Street Park location.
After many conversations with committee members, skaters and citizens about possible locations, Etna Street was overwhelmingly the location of choice. Reasons for this location included:
Etna Street Park being centrally located.
Visibility of park users.
Space needed is already available.
Parking around park is plentiful.
Multi-functional skate park plan can be used for variety of activities.
Ironton has been committed to the traditional sports activities for many years. I think the skate park will offer those who choose alternative recreational activities a place to call there own.
I hope the council will join in supporting Mayor Rich Blankenship, the Ironton Recreation Department and its Advisory Committee, the skaters, skateboarders and citizens of Ironton in the construction of the Etna Street Skate Park.
