Carl E. Sparling, 67, of Ironton, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Cornerstone Hospital. He was born June 22, 1941, in Lawrence County, the son of the late sam and Mildred Bowman Sparling. Mr. Sparling retired from Calgon Carbon in 2002. He was also the owner of the Cross Roads Mini Mart in Deering for 10 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Irvin Sparling; and one sister, Josephine Hunt.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tony and Anessa Sparling of Forestdale, and Ricky Sparling of Forestdale; one daughter and a son-in-law, Misti and Scott Johnson of Deering; one sister, Linda Sue Sparling of Forestdale; and three grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Beals officiating. Interment will follow at Zoar Cemetery, Coal Grove. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
