Ladies Nine Hole League readies for handicap tourney

PINE GROVE — The Ironton Country Club Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association met at the clubhouse recently with 10 members enjoying the day’s activities.

During the business meeting, Rose Auble announced the handicap tournament had begun and would continue for four weeks on Tuesdays.

Hostess Joyce Lewis served refreshments. Members teed-off and returned for lunch and announcements of those winning events.

Event winners were Betty Fraley, Johnna Jones and Auble who won two events.

Auble will be the hostess on Tuesday. The group meets at 9 a.m. with golf events at 9:30. New members continue to be welcomed.

Tuesday, June 8

Ladies of the Nine Hole Golf League of Ironton Country Club met weekly through May and June for brief business meetings and golf. Hostesses on three occasions were Doris Roberts, Pat Riggs and Jami Dyer.

Golf event winners were Kathy Fraley, Rose Auble, Betty Fraley, Pat Lambert and Dyer. Those winning on two occasions were Linda Ison, Johnna Jones, Georgia Willis, Roberts and Riggs. Guest Shirley Gleam, a former member, enjoyed playing with the group.

Meetings begin at nine thirty with tee time starting at 10 a.m. Wanda Spears, a former member, joined the group with a warm welcome.

New lady club members may join at anytime. Next week, Joyce Lewis will serve as hostess.
