LAWRENCE COUNTY — Appalachian Family & Children First Council is a state mandated coalition of more than 30 child serving agencies, family representatives, and businesses in Lawrence County.
Council’s mission is to identify and meet any service gaps for families and children in Lawrence County. Family representatives are mandated members of council.
They serve on various committees of council, they participate in council meetings on a monthly basis, and they volunteer distributing clothing for the Appalachian Family & Children First Council Collaborative Clothing Closet.
On June 9, Appalachian Family & Children First Council hosted an appreciation lunch for parent representatives that have participated in council.
Family representatives can also volunteer for the PAC Program as a parent advocate.
Six of the seven family representatives who were in attendance also volunteer for the PAC program, and one of the seven is the PAC Regional Coordinator.
PAC parent advocates are a large part of connecting the parents in Lawrence County with the resources they need.
Parent Advocates work very closely with Family & Children First Council’s service coordination process.
