Study to center on moving fairgrounds to Chesapeake

It is 20 acres in size and during fair week, the Lawrence County Fairgrounds becomes a small city, complete with temporary housing, commercial ventures and entertainment.
But it is landlocked. Backed up against Fairland High School, a busy roadway and several businesses, the Lawrence County Fairgrounds has no place to grow.
With that in mind, the Lawrence County Commission Thursday agreed to form a committee to study the idea of moving the fairgrounds from its Rome Township location to the 80-acre site now occupied solely by the Lawrence County Airpark.
