COAL GROVE — Oscar Primm, 89, of Coal Grove passed away Friday, July 10, 2009, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born September 10, 1919, the son of the late Joseph and Bertha Kizzee Primm. His wife, Helen Louise Gillum Primm whom he married in 1943, preceded him in death.
He attended Hecla Schools and was an Army World War II Veteran and served in Company “K” 166th Infantry Division. He also was an electrician for Armco Steel, where he retired in 1982 and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Primm was member of the Masons, Disabled American Veterans and a Kentucky Colonel.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by long time companion Wilma “Bobby” Morgan; two daughters: Bertha Boggs and Barbara Dillow; sister: Cora Mae Riffe and brother: George Primm.
He is survived by his daughter: Deborah Primm of Ironton; son-in-law: Larry and Janice Boggs of Coal Grove; grandchildren: Christopher Boggs, Julie and David Rutherford of Coal Grove, David and Dawnya Boggs of Chesapeake; great-grandsons: Zackary, Zane, and Zayden Boggs of Chesapeake; a niece who was raised in the home like a daughter, Vicki and James Witt of Greenup, Ky.; a special caregiver who he loved like a daughter and her family, Becky, Jerry, Shelby, and Nakita Norris of Ironton; brother: David Primm of Michigan and faithful companion Daisy.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point with Rev. Mike Huff officiating. There will be no visitation. The VFW Post 8850 will conduct military rites.
