Community support restores Proctorville park

Published 11:08 am Tuesday, July 28, 2009

On behalf of the Village of Proctorville, I would like to thank the following: Harold White, Kim Estep, Jessie Bowen, Amy Mills, Gene Pancake, Justin Wurtzler, Andy Denning, Jerry Thompson, Davy Peters, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Stuart and Hillary Stuart, Valspar Paint, Aero Fab and Wal-Mart in South Point.

Our park was in much need of repairs, additional playground equipment and a general sprucing up. The Hero Program at Lowe’s was able to donate $1,200 and manpower to help us with our park.

Their contribution along with village funds made it possible to add two new pieces of equipment and to paint and repair the old equipment. We appreciate everyone’s enthusiastic response to our need. The park is a much safer and enjoyable place for our children.

I would like to thank Mr. Mohammad Hassan, assistant manager of the Kroger store in Proctorville.

Kroger’s has always been community-oriented and willing to lend a helping hand. When we had a community park workday earlier in June, Mr. Hassan was ready to help out again.

Kroger’s donated soft drinks for all the volunteer workers. In this day and age it is refreshing that a business still takes the time to get involved and help the community.
