COAL GROVE — Agriculture is a big part of Lawrence County and the Tri-State region, so on Friday the Rocky Top Raceway will honor area farmers with “Farm Bureau Night.”
The first 25 Farm Bureau members will get in free with all other Farm Bureau members receiving $2 off admission. All FFA kids will be allowed in free. Proper identification must be presented at the gate.
In addition to “Farm Bureau Night,” Friday is also the “Season Championships” race. This will be the final points race of the season as the 2009 track champions will be crowned at the end of the races.
Late Models, Modifieds, Bombers, and Mod Lites will all be racing for regular points and regular purses in what is also the final full racing program of the year.
In the Late Model division, Jackie Boggs has already clinched the 2009 track championship. This is the second track championship in a row for Boggs.
The Modified points battle is the closest as points leader Todd Robinson, Eddie Harmon, Craig Christian, and Dave Jamision could all end up as track champion by the end of the night. Robinson can clinch a record fifth track championship by finishing fourth or better.
Pedro’s David Dunn will clinch his first RTR Bomber track championship by simply starting the feature event.
In the Mod Lites, Chris Stone can clinch his second track championship in a row by finishing 13th or better. All tiebreakers inside the top 20 in points will be broken by wins, top three’s, top fives, and top tens in that order.
Gates will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps starting at 7:30. General admission is $12 for adults, $2 for kids ages 7-12 and pit passes are $25. Children 6-and-under are free.
