VINTON COUNTY — The Ridgetop Music Fest will take place Saturday at the Vinton County Airport, about 6 miles north of McArthur, just off State Route 93 on Airport Road.
The event is being referred to as a mid-summer twilight event with music beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Performances will end at about 9 p.m. and will take place on the beautiful Vinton County Airport’s grassy knoll, near the shelterhouse.
Food, airplane rides, and mini tractor pulls will begin earlier in the day at about 3 p.m.
Some of the groups and individuals performing will be Borrowed Tyme, a southern bluegrass gospel favorite; Sugar Run, which features Sue Kirk on the banjo and mandolin; local favorite Chip Allman and the Bottom of the Barrel Band; The Equine Riders made up mainly of Allen family members with clear four-part vocals; and local musician/songwriter Joy Dickerson.
There will be “5 Minutes of Fame” sections for those individuals or groups who just want to jump on the stage and perform a song after registering for a specific time at the beginning of the event.
There will also be an area where you can learn to play or improve your musical skills.
