Lady Dragons keep pace in OVC title race

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons kept up with the Jones.
The Lady Dragons remained on the heels of Ohio Valley Conference leader River Valley as they swept the Rock Hill Redwomen Tuesday in a volleyball match.
Fairland won 25-13, 25-21 or 25-17 to remain one game behind River Valley.
Kamren Mendoza led Fairland with 16 points — 7 aces — and 5 kills. Cori Gaeger aided the win with 15 points.
The Lady Dragons host Chesapeake Thursday in their “Volley for the Cure” game.
River Valley 3, Chesapeake 0
CHESAPEAKE — The River Valley Lady Raiders remained unbeaten in the Ohio Valley Conference with a straight sets win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers Tuesday.
The Lady Raiders beat the Lady Panthers in straight sets, 25-22, 25-17 and 25-1.
“River Valley has a good team and they are well coached,” said Lady Panthers’ coach Dana Edwards. “We played well except for the last set. Ashley Jenkins and Sara Rice both did a good job on both offense and defense.”
In the reserve match, River Valley won 25-18 and 25-14.
Chesapeake travels to Fairland at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in a “Volley for the Cure” game.
