Lady Pointers’ Taylor advances to district golf tournament

Just like the golf company, this Lady Pointer is Taylor-made.

Callie Taylor, a sophomore for the South Point Lady Pointers, shot an 82 and finished second at the Southeast Division II sectional golf tournament last Wednesday at Upper Landsdowne Golf Course in Asheville.

An all-district first team selection, Taylor will play in the district tournament Thursday at Upper Landsdowne.

Multi-sport Flyer

Sara Burcham just loves nets.

The Ironton St. Joseph Female Flyers’ senior is a starter for the volleyball team, but she also plays tennis.

Burcham will be playing in the district tennis tournament Tuesday at Portsmouth’s Mound Park in the singles division.

A total of 16 teams will participate including Ironton, Athens, Circleville, Hillsboro, Logan Elm, Miami Trace, Portsmouth Notre Dame, Portsmouth, Unioto, Lucasville Valley, Vinton County, Waverly, Wheelersburg and Washington Court House.

Matches will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday and continue on Wednesday.
