Meat, saw stolen in separate incidents

PROCTORVILLE — A shoplifting incident and the theft of a chain saw were investigated during the past week by Proctorville village police.
An unidentified white male was reported to have shoplifted a package of meat from the Kroger’s in the village by “stuffing the meat in his shirt,” according to the police log. The incident happened at 9:55 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. There is no suspect at this time.
Dave Freeman of Freeman Heating and Air, State Street, reported that a chain saw was taken from his property.
“An employee heard a door shut and went outside and the chain saw was gone,” the police report states.
The theft happened at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8. The Stihl chain saw was valued at $399. There are no suspects at this time.
