CHESHIRE — Gabriel Freyre was healthy. Peter Hintz felt fine.

The same couldn’t be said for the River Valley Raiders’ defense.

The Chesapeake Panthers’ offense was feeling good as they rolled up 467 total yards and cruised past the Raiders 49-14 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Freyre, who was sick last week, ran 13 times for 152 yards and Hintz had six carries for 93 yards and scored four touchdowns including a 53-yard TD pass.

“We played pretty well. Everybody blocked well and the kids ran had. We had a long run called back early, but other than that we didn’t make a lot of mistakes,” said Panthers’ coach Phil Davis.

“We had (Trent) Saunders back for the first time in four games. We’re still missing a couple of guys, but we’re pretty healthy with the ones we do have.”

Hintz caught a 53-yad pass from Colton Lindsey to give Chesapeake a 7-0 lead. Saunders kicked the conversion.

Freyre then bolted 49 yards for a score and the lead was 14-0 with 5:34 left in the first quarter.

The Panthers (2-6, 1-2) put three touchdowns on the scoreboard in the second quarter to take a 35-0 halftime lead.

Hintz had a 33-yard scoring run touchdown run early in the quarter and it was 21-0. Trey West scored on a 4-yard run less than two minutes later and Hintz ran 12 yards for the final touchdown of the half with 4:36 on the clock.

Hintz got loose on a 33-yard scoring run midway through the third quarter as the lead went to 41-0.

Davis pulled his starters and backup running back Dylan Nichols had a 3-yard TD run in the fourth quarter to cap the Panthers’ scoring.

The Raiders (1-7, 0-3) got a 5-yard touchdown run by quarterback Jacob Brown just before the end of the third quarter and backup Jacob Hefner hit Chad Smith with a 58-yard scoring pass with 1:34 to play.
