He was one of the unassuming adults who made the Lawrence County Junior Fair happen each year, a behind-the-scenes supervisor whose hours of hard work allowed young people their moment in the spotlight.
Fair Board President Doug Clark died Sunday after a battle with cancer. He was 59.
Clark is remembered as a devoted community servant by fellow fair board member Randy Lambert, who recalled that Clark’s supervision of the fair involved long hours the week before and the week of the fair, and, in fact, countless hours of planning and organizing all year long.
“He was a wonderful person to work with and I enjoyed the time I worked with him. Many people don’t realize the time he did put in because so much of it was behind the scenes,” Lambert said.
Clark is survived by his wife, Debbie.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at South Point United Methodist Church.
