LEXINGTON, Ky. — Mr. Glen Burton Fairchild, 82, of Lexington, formerly of Ironton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, in Lexington.
He was born Oct. 18, 1927, in Hanging Rock, Ohio, the son of the late William W. and Mabel Starke Fairchild. He retired from Allied Chemical, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ironton, Ohio, where he served as a trustee and a choir member. Glen was a long-time member of the Huntington Beagle Club and a WWII veteran where he served in the Philippines.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette Heighton Fairchild; one brother, Dencil Fairchild; two sisters, Kathleen Goodner and Reba Jean Tordiff; and one sister-in-law, Wanda Fairchild.
He is survived by his wife Maxine Fairchild, whom he married Jan. 13, 1967; two sons, Mark and Tammy Fairchild of Lexington, and Michael and Carol Fairchild of Webster, N.Y.; one granddaughter, Cindy and John Thomas Eldridge of Lexington; two grandsons, Tyler and Brent Fairchild, both of Webster, N.Y.; one great-grandson, Brody Thomas Eldridge; three brothers, Billy Fairchild of Chesapeake, Ohio, Paul and Mildred Fairchild of Ironton, Ohio, and Kenneth and Phyllis Fairchild of Ironton, Ohio, and two sisters, Minerva and Kenneth Hughes of Ironton, Ohio, and Susie and Jim Carr of Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Ironton, Ohio, with the Rev. Clifford E. Neville and the Rev. Dennis Strawn officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
