David L. “Goof” Russell, 47, of Ironton, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born April 17, 1962, the son of the late William and Betty Justice Russell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Julie Litton Russell, who died Oct. 3, 2009.
Mr. Russell attended Ironton City Schools and was a former employee for McSweeney’s for 10 years. He attended the City Mission Church in Ironton.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Timmy and Paige Russell of Georgetown; two daughters, Crystal Russell of Huntington, W.Va. and Jennifer Russell of Ironton; two sons, David L. Russell Jr. and Billy Jo Russell, both of Ironton; stepdaughter, Melissa Jenkins of Ironton; stepson, David and Shelby Chapman of Ironton; five grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Teena and Jim Lee Cremeans of Pedro and Debbie and Brent McClain of Ironton; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Richy and Debbie Russell of Nancy, Ky., Jim and Ruth Russell, Bobby and Debbie Russell and Michael and Connie Russell, all of Ironton, Deron and Rachel Russell of Kitts Hill and Timmy and Sheila Russell of Springfield, Mo.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the City Mission Church in Ironton with Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Furnace Cemetery. Friends may call today from 6-9 p.m. at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home and the body will lie in state one hour before the service at the church.
