Many reasons to be thankful

Today is the day Americans set aside to give thanks and reflect on all the blessings we have in our lives.
For many it is a day to take stock of all the things we take for granted and make a commitment to be more thankful for all our positives.
Here in Southern Ohio, nestled in the hills of Lawrence County along the Ohio River, there are many things for which our community should be thankful.
Here are just a few:
That God has provided us with all that surrounds us and that he grants us the blessing of being on this Earth.
For our friends and families that surround us with love and support.
For the selfless men and women in our armed services that keep America the home of the brave and the land of the free.
For our good health, if we have it, or for the chance to work to improve it if we do not.
For our caring communities and all the civic-minded individuals who live here and want to make the Tri-State a better place.
For our organizations and groups that strive to help those who are less fortunate actually have something for which to be thankful.
For all the jobs we have in our region, with the understanding that we can always use more and ones that pay higher wages.
For our elected leaders who most often truly do strive to do what is right, even if it is often a thankless and difficult job.
For the heritage and culture that makes southern Ohio special and sets us apart.
So as we enjoy turkey and stuffing or whatever meal we choose, let’s not forget all the things for which we should be thankful.
Hopefully we can carry these with us for another 364 days out if the year.
