COAL GROVE — John William Goldcamp, 66, of Coal Grove died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
He was born Aug. 10, 1943, the son of the late Henry Goldcamp and Doris Lee Deering Phelps.
He was raised in the home of the late James Earl (Dip) and Nellie Deering.
He was director of transportation for the Dawson Bryant Bus Garage and taught for 33 years in the school district. He was a retired chief of police of the Village of Coal Grove and was a member of Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jean (Jeanne) Simpson; and one daughter and son-in-law, Johnna Jean Goldcamp Fisher and Frederick Coffin Fisher Jr. of Forest Dale; one sister, Julie Goldcamp of Deering; one half-brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Debbie Phelps of Fort Myers, Fla.; three sisters-in-law, Bonita and David Hitchcock of Grove City; Cathy and Tim Williams of Frankfort, Ohio; and Judy and Brett Wright of Seneca, S.C. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Dawson Bryant High School Gymnasium with Van Miller officiating. Burial will be in Ice Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday f at Dawson Bryant High School Gymnasium. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to the John Goldcamp Memorial Fund in care of Dawson-Bryant Schools or the Coal Grove Police Department Equipment Fund.
Pallbearers will be Tom Gillenwater, Jason Bloomfield, John David Hitchcock, Kevin Wood, Jimmy Phelps, Marc Whitlock, Tim Stapleton and Gary Moore. O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
