Local United States Marine Graduates from Parris Island

KITTS HILL — Marine Private First Class Dustin Chandler of Kitts Hill, is visiting home after completing recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C.

Chandler is a 2009 graduate of Rock Hill High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps under the Delayed Entry Program at the Marine Recruiting Substation Ashland.

Marine recruit training consists of 12 weeks of intensive training with emphasis on physical training, survival techniques on land and sea, marksmanship training, leadership principles and morals and ethics training.

Chandler’s next duty station will be at Camp Lejeune, N.C. for Marine Combat Training.

After completing Marine Combat Training, Chandler will begin formal training in the field of Computer Data Systems.
