Redmen bounce back with win over Flyers

PEDRO — Maybe it wasn’t their best shot, but it was better.

After a cold-shooting performance in their opener on Saturday, the Rock Hill Redmen hit 46 percent of their shots as they beat the St. Joseph Flyers 65-39 Tuesday.

Rock Hill hit 29 of 63 shots as they evened their record at 1-1.

“We shot a little better than we did against Gallipolis. We’re a young team. We had spurts in the game when we let down a bit,” said Rock Hill coach Bob Wilds.

Will McCollister scored 19 points and had 8 rebounds to lead the Redmen. Mitch Patterson added 10 points, Jeremy Blagg had 9 points, 7 assists and 3 steals while Sam Cooke chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds.

Joseph Unger scored 11 points to lead the Flyers (1-1).

Rock Hill controlled the game from the start as McCollister scored 10 and Sam Cooke had 6 as the Redmen took a 25-7 lead.

Five different players scored in the second quarter as the Redmen stretched their lead to 39-18.

Patterson had 6 points in the third quarter as the lead grew to 59-32.

On Friday, Rock Hill visits South Gallia while St. Joseph hosts Coal Grove.
